Candy Apples

Ingredients 6 large Granny Smith apples 6 wooden craft sticks 1 (14-ounce) bag caramels, unwrapped 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 tablespoon water 2 cups chopped pecans, toasted 1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate morsels Pecan halves (optional) Directions: Wash and dry apples; remove stems. Insert craft sticks into stem end of each apple; set aside. Combine caramels, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon water in a microwave-safe glass bowl. Microwave on HIGH 90 seconds or until melted, stirring twice. Dip each apple into the caramel mixture quickly, allowing excess caramel to drip off. Roll in chopped pecans; place on lightly greased wax paper. Chill at least 15 minutes. Microwave chocolate morsels at HIGH 90 seconds or until melted, stirring twice; cool 5 minutes. Pour chocolate where craft sticks and apple meet, allowing chocolate to drip down sides of apples. Press pecan halves onto chocolate, if desired. Chill 15 minutes or until set. NOTE: For te...

Oreo Cookie Turkeys

You will need the following: Double Stuff Oreos (2 per turkey) Small Reeses’ Peanut Butter Cups (1) Whoppers (1) Candy Corn White Frosting Black Frosting Directions: Place your peanut butter cups in the fridge. They will cut cleaner cold. Then take an Oreo and carefully separate one of the cookies from the frosting. Gently press the pointed tips of 6 candy corns around one half of the Oreo. Take some white frosting and cover the frosting and re-attach the cookie. Take the second oreo and lay it flat on the table. Pick up your Oreo with the candy corn and put some icing on the bottom of the oreo opposite from the candy corn and attach the Oreo onto the flat oreo so that it is on the back half. Prop the stuck together Oreos against a book or a wall to hold it up while the icing dries. If it does not stand up well, add some more icing. Fruit Filled Snack-O-Lanterns

I ngredients Navel orange Canned or fresh fruit salad or fresh fruit (cut into bite size pieces) Instructions: To make one of the lanterns, use a knife to slice off the top of the navel orange and cut it out like you would when carving a pumpkin. Scoop out the orange segments, chop them and mix them with the fruit to put inside the pumpkin. I have a hard time doing this. Normally it turns into mush, so I would suggest making orange juice out of it if you want to save it. Carve out a jack o’ lantern face on one side of the orange. Fill the lantern with fresh fruit or fruit salad. I find fresh fruit to be the easiest for little ones to eat and the juice from fruit salad can seep out the face. I normally leave the lid off.
